Tractor
John Deere 4320
I'm looking at a 2210 JD as a fill in unit ( My JD 4320 has been at the dealers for over a month now for repair /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif) for light lifting ( about 500-600 lbs)Grass cutting on hills, using a landscape rake , maybe a small tiller.I would be doing some landscaping with it as well.It would have the 200CX loader on it and a 54" deck and weight box and R4's.How do you guys like these units?and how well do they do the job?

Thank you
Jim

Well they're not 4320's. That said, for what you listed, a 2210 should do the job well enough. The mowing portion, would definately be the strongest suit, although I'd recommend the 62C MMM due to the overlap. 5-600 lbs in the loader would require proper ballasting, and the hydraulics certainly wouldn't cycle as fast as your older brother. Why don't you test drive one and see for yourself?

BTW, what is taking so long on your 4320? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I test drove 1 without the loader and liked it better than the BX2230. ( might just be I'm use to the Deeres placement of controls) The 4320 is dead at the dealers with an engine and possibly a hydro problem. It has lived at the dealer since 7/12 it was delivered on 7/8 /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.John deere and the dealer have been pleasant but very little help.I have called everyone at JD that I know and could find ,but everyone points the finger at someone else .I'm glad the 2210 is a Yanmar powered tractor. ( I have owned a 950 and a 790 and loved them) So I hope I will have the same with the 2210.

Thank you
Jim

Mine was delivered Jan. 17. 2005 I got to blow a little snow with it. Spring came and I plowed my garden and a couple other. I was very pleased. Then the mowing started I'm very happy. The only thing I would do different. I would think very serious about either turf or the heppa tires. I have R4s. With R4s you don't have any sideways traction on a hill side in wet grass.

Jim,
Although it is brand new, I love my 2210 and the homework, research and questions have paid off. I looked at Kubota and New Holland as well. Like others have said, you really have to try them each on for size. The first time I drove the JD it was "sold." It just fit the best, but I do realize the others have their strengths a well. For me this was my first JD and something I've been thinking about for quite some time. With the new 2305 replacing it, you might be able to swing a deal on a 2210. Shop around and see if you are also able to snag a 210 (vs 200CX) loader to save some money. Good luck and happy hunting.

Jim,

Sorry to hear about your woes -- though I have no doubt Deere will work things out -- I'm sure the inconvenience to you is huge. I too like the ergonomics better than on the Kubota's (personal preference). I think you should at least try out the loader on a 2210 to be sure you understand the differences in cycle time it would have compared to your 4320 -- it's not that they're unacceptable, but you should know what they are. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have had my 2210 just over a year. It is great. I have not used it with the loader much. I did push & blow alot of snow last winter. I also have a 4710.

I really want to thank you for all of your input, buying a second tractor was not an easy decision ( For financial reasons)But I don't think I will be seeing the 4320 for a while if ever again /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gifand I thought a smaller 2210 would help fill in for working in small areas and cutting the grass were the ZD25 can't go. It has been a really tough choice between the Kubota BX2230 and the JD 2210 . THe Kubota was less money but I just felt out of place on it and could not get use to the placement of the controls.hopfully I have made the right choice and not ended up with another lemon ( not saying the 2210 is but with my luck it will be the only 1 they made, LOL) also has anyone mounted a suspension seat to a 2210?

Thanks you
Jim

I have over 300 hours on mine in just over 14 months. I love it. Check out the pics link to see some of what I have done with it...

I had a 2210 for a couple of years and now have a 4320. I loved the 2210 while I owned it, but after 70 hours on the 4320, there's no way I could go back. We all know they are different tractors, intended for different functions, but be prepared for much less of a machine than your 4320.

You mentioned cutting grass on hills. That is one of the biggest areas of improvement I noticed from the 2210 to 4320 ... stability. I had a number of close calls on my 2210 that do not even cause a slight problem for the 4320. Probably just the additional weight and wheel base.

For what it is, the 2210 is a great tractor. I just hope you are prepared for the performance difference.

Sorry to hear about your experience with the 4320. I couldn't be happier with mine. Hopefully things work out.
