How do you check Hydraulic Fluid in MF 255

I know this sounds like a dumb question, and I even bought a service manuel on line yesterday and still cant figure out. How do you check the hydraulic fluid on a MF 255? I just bought this tractor, and have never owned a Massey before.

There is a small dipstick located on the right side underneath the seat right next to a little lever. Is that how you check the fluid? also what is that little lever do?

And where do I put the fluid in? there is a big nut that you unscrew right before the stick shift. When I take the nut off and look in the case it looks low, but the stick behind the seat says its full? Also there seams to be another nut about midway down the case that looks like an overflow kind of indicator? do I add fluid until it runs out of that overflow nut?
