How do you clean your wood deck??

Im with jinman. I use bleach. Its cheap and works extremly well and quick. It will burn nearby vegatation a lil but those plants will quickly recover.

Tide with bleach, wet the deck, sprinkle it on, then brush across the grain to try to keep from pulling the soft grain out of the wood. Wash all off with a garden hose with a spray nozzle.

If you are worried about plants, cover them with cheap painter's plastic. The plastic works great for furniture or anything you don't want splattered. I think Pete Judd's solution might be the best of all. A little added detergent ( with phosphates) will make your grass happy and a garden hose will rinse off the deck without sending splatter into the ionosphere.

I actually bought a box of Tide and some liquid bleach last fall but never got around to trying it. Appreciate all the good suggestions and will probably start with the detergent/bleach approach and test on a section.

What proportions of bleach/Tide/water do you use? Also, not sure what you mean by >>... to keep from pulling the soft grain out of the wood<< ?
