You probably wear your life vest in the boat and keep the kill switch connected..........even when going fast, too. :)

What I want to know is how to disable that back up alert on my 110 TLB. Thing is making me go deaf.

I guess I would agree with most of the folks, don't disable the seat switch. I can talk from experience. I have a 4350, man that thing was ticking me off at times. Made a jumper wire, unplugged the connector, plugged the jumper wire in, Bingo, safety switch bypassed. WRONG!!! It was winter time, I was pulling out fire wood, my coveralls caught on the forward/reverse lever. I was half on the tractor and half off, tractor was moving forward. I don't know how I am here to even talk about it. Never again, I removed the jumper, plugged the safety switch back in. This has happened a few times now, the main reason is because of the bulky clothing gets caught on the lever. To me it doesn't matter what type of clothing I'm wearing, once this happened once, I got a real reallity check. Certainly up to you, just remember, this is how accidents happen.

You are a very lucky, i know a man that lost two toes because all the switch's was disabled from a mower.

Accidents happen very quick, from something stupid like a disabled safety switch.

And some say they never recommend it to anyone, but sometimes
there are good and valid reasons to do so.

The seat switch on my JD4200 will get a good look as soon as it warms up. Right now it has a tendency to do it's thing when I'm moving around on the seat trying to see behind me.:D

Egon:

The little jumper wire cures the seat switch hassle on the JD4200 quite nicely too.

I keep a jumper handy, as my seat becomes so stiff & hard when really cold that I cannot trip the safety switch with my weight on the seat.... doesn't happen often, but it does happen. Only used as a temporary solution, for reason stated.

Thanks for the pic. I will rig it up later today. I didn't realize that this thread would open up such a can of worms. With me being the only person that uses the mower, I think everything will be just fine. I will make sure to unhook the jumper wire and plug the seat back in when it goes to the dealer for any reason. I messed with the reverse thing yesterday by loosening the bolt and moving the bracket back so it wouldn't hit the switch when you pressed down on the reverse pedal. It worked for the most part but when you mashed the reverse pedal ALL the way down, it still disengaged the mower. I ended up putting it back like it was. Does anyone know if it is the bracket with the switch that has to be moved back or is it the pin that sticks out more toward the center of the machine that needs moving in some? I understand that these things are done at my own risk but I am very careful about doing things. Every machine that I have ever owned has not had these saftey features and everything has been just fine.

You mean those expensive jd mowers don't have an on off switch for that pto shuts off while mowing in reverse stupid thing that was imposed upon the public cause some dummy backed over their baby???

Getting ready in a couple of weeks to buy a new lawnmower, going to buy a snapper model LT 200. It is not a very expensive lawnmower as compared to the higher end ones, just 3,000,and it has a switch to turn that feature on[or in 99 percent of people who will buy it],off.

The seat switch don't really bother me[yet] on the older mowers I got,but I weigh about 260.If it did bother me,I would just run a little cross over wire like was shown and black tape it all up.

Even if you wanted to put up with that can't mow in reverse thing, heard it was very hard on pto's.

Well, maybe I jumped the gun, actually went back and read some, you mean....that switch that I was bragging about on the snapper, has to be turned each time you back up! man,,going to start a new post, how do you disable that switch?

Interesting comments on the reverse PTO. My Craftsman has a specific postion on the ignition switch that allows mowing in reverse. Just turn key to the position and it stays there until changed. The normal "return from start" postion does not allow reverse mowing.

Well my older ones,[one a 10 year old or so craftsman] don't have anything in this regard just the seat switch. And never reallY studied that switch on the snapper, just saw it and thought,ok,theres how you get out of that, but, after reading this and that switch being big and seemed like it was a glow kinda yellow, thinking now,it might be like the deere, havn't bought it,yet, will take another look.

Speaking of such, what brands of lawnmowers have a way of turning that off,[kinda like the craftsman] and not having to do it each time you go in reverse?

And if its electrical, should be able to disable it kinda easy?

My cub cadet GT2554 has an over ride switch that you can by pass the no rear reverse mowing feature with.
That's a sweet deal as it gives you the best of both worlds.
