On my previous Kubota (L4400) and on my JD2210 the fuel cap is on top of the hood, which meant either you had to hold the jug while it drained or lay it on the hood. I'm kinda OCD about things like that. If in my shop I'd use a shop towel to protect the hood, but when at the farm I'd just hafta tough it out. I'm so glad I don't hafta do that anymore. Now I'm upset if I drip one drop of diesel on the hood of the 2210. The 9540 fills from the rear so not so much of a problem there.
With all that said, I totally understand the 5gal jug thing. Did it for years. A couple years ago I would have never dreamed I'd pay $450 for a tank/pump.
