I saw the first turtle of the year yesterday. Pretty early.

Snow's the deepest it's been all year. Gotta be a warm spell, just around three corners!

We're getting snow at least every other day... not a lot but 3 inches here and 6 inches there adds up. I feel like I'm in one of those snow globes and somebody keeps shaking it.That's fine with me though, I prefer to have winter last into the beginning of April.
Blackflies and heat will come soon enough... they always do.

Except for a four day long cold snap - this has been a very warm winter. Several of the Red Wing Blackbirds stayed on my lake all winter. No idea what they are eating - but they seem healthy. If they got really hungry - plenty of chances to fly south.

We have Dandelions popping up all over the place. Wisteria's are blooming and cover the trees like huge bunches of grapes. Onion weeds are in full growth with the grass greening up. All the trees and flowers are beginning to bud. And that's how I know that this is simply Blackberry Winter - Spring is still 4 or 5 weeks out
