Just a sign of a revolver pointing at you that says "there is nothing in here worth dying for"

This thread is four years old. Hopefully the door is locked by now?

I used a 6" "Gatehouse" zinc swivel Hasp (#0309008) from Lowes. Bend the long portion contain the slot 90 degrees out away from the short portion that has the four mounting holes. You should straighten out the two slight bends that it comes with.
Thanks for the reply, I started this thread and it is locked but looking for better ideas. I would really appreciate a picture or two. 4 yrs - crazy how time flies....

I'll have to take some photos of my set up. Basically the closing end has a tongue that slides into a groove, door can't be pulled up, down, or out. At the opposite end I turned a standard ornamental gate box vertical. When the door is closed the dead bolt goes into a receiver and the box itself fits between two guides, can't be lifted, up, down, or out. And because the latch is where it is not supposed to be most people don't see it. All there is to give it away is the key hole in the door face.

My FIL has the hasp/padlock setup. He screwed the hasp on the side of the sliding door frame and the latch on the outside of the wall. When he slides the door closed, the hasp then slides though the latch. On the other end of the door, he buried a pipe in the ground that only allows the door to be pulled out enough to keep it off the wall when sliding closed(~2 or 3 inches). Mine is from the inside with a walk door. :)

I don't have a walk door. You would think that there would be one avail for barn sliders, but I have yet to find one.

No actual lock, just a chain with a clasp on it that clips into an eye bolt. The bottom of the door has rollers to keep the wind from raising it.

A chain bolted to the inside post. An eyebolt with a lock on the door. You need a walk door to access.
