i live in angelo, and My family printed all the flight manuals for the mu-2 . I remember they were translating a lot of the pages from japanese for some reason. This was in the early 70' i think. Guys at the plant said they were not friendly if an engine went down. small world indeed.
No airplane is friendly if a engine goes down. The MU 2 has different flying characteristics than most other airplanes and a lack of training was a major factor in early accidents. It was marketed as a replacement for the Piper Navajo and some other piston powered planes that were much simpler to fly and the sales people did a injustice by convincing people they were simple to fly like the smaller stuff they were stepping up from.
The MU 2 was originally designed and built by Mitsubishi hence the translation from Japaneses. It had a bad safety record early on but now is the safest turbo prop twin flying.
