How do you sell a gun....legally.

Gunbroker.com is one way to advertise. Like ebay for firearms. If selling out of state you would have to ship through an FFL to the buyers FFL. Someone please correct me if I am wrong here.

I concur; As a class 7 FFL holder I would suggest these days to do exacly what is stated above. Therefore there is a paper trail in case 10 years later some idiot does something stupid with something that you used to own. The FBI and/or ATF are not pleasant to deal with. This is sadly a time of guilty until proven innocent. Politicians and the media are quick to point fingers at anyone they can.

If you sell it to a family member or a trusted person, (cash and carry). Unless you just need the cash; stock some ammunition and put them in a safe place.

But Aaron, don't you see? Not all laws are just. Not all laws pass constitutional muster - even if the Supreme Court says otherwise. Simple logic dictates that only a government that fears its people will seek to disarm its people. Now, just why would a government "of the people and by the people" fear "the people?" Answer, it no longer considers itself obligated to "the people" and wants to ensure its own survival - even at the cost of yours.

I love this country, or what it was and should still be. However, I am a Citizen and not a Subject.

How do you sell a gun legally? Well, depending (for now) on your state - simply as K0UA responded - or by falling to your knees in fear and complying.

I agree 100%, I was just stating that it is no longer legal to sell a gun that way here in NY, not that I agree, approve, etc.

pretty much how it works in florida too.

Ok here is the procedure in Missouri.

1. buyer hands seller the money
2. seller hands buyer the handgun (or long gun for that matter)
3. buyer and seller shake hands and walk away, each confident that they got the better end of the deal.

PS.. gun laws are stupid, fortunately we got rid of most of ours, or at least the worst of them.

Works the same here in GA too, but I like to at least get a bill of sale if I am purchasing from someone I don't know, just in case.

The NSA can kiss my behind too. But I'm not dumb enough to type that onto the internet.

Oh...

Wait...

:duh:

If you sell your firearm on an internet site, list it as it will only ship to a FFL. Keep in mind, some FFL's will not accept a firearm from a private individual from outside of their own state, and will only accept a firearm outside their State from another FFL.

By going through a FFL (and keeping your paperwork), you CYA to the nth degree.

Sold and bought numerous guns over the internet. Got burnt only once buying by either an idiot or someone who really had no clue. It does become a headache shipping to California LOL

If you list on gunbroker, just don't have a unseen reserve. Let the people know what you want for it or the minimum bid. Save yourself a headache as well and only list on one site at a time (can get hard to keep track of with one gun on multiple sites).

That's the way it is here in the good O' Heart Of Dixie. I wouldn't have it any other way. Seems like the guys & gals at the State house wouldn't have it any other way either:thumbsup:

Thanks guys. Would love to sell to an individual, in state, face to face. But as mentioned, these guns are odd balls. There will be people out there who want them but the chances of me running into someone locally is pretty slim. Most folks haven't heard of a .358 Winchester and many of those who have are mistaken in what they understand about the round. And virtually no one around here will have any idea why Remington made an 870 with a straight English style stock.....I don't either.

Does Craigs list do guns?

I've looked at some of the tutorials about selling on GunBroker.com and it looks to me like I would not need to ship from a FFL holder, just to and FFL holder. I may be wrong about that.

And someone mentioned keeping them. I have no use for another 870. Wouldn't mind keeping the Ruger 77 but I never carry it and I do need the money......for other fun things......some of which wouldn't even bother the NSA.

Just comparing the stocks. English straight vs. Standard Pistol Grip. Why does one person prefer Kubota and one John Deere, or another Kioti?
Its all about preference. Some may like the straight stock.
