How do you shorten a PTO shaft?

I think you will be surprised at the shop price. When I looked at TSC (and they didn't have the sizes I needed for one tube), but you had to buy a 4 ft stick, which was $55! Two pieces (male/female) would go a long ways to having the drive line shop do the whole thing.

Tim, it's been long enough that I don't remember what it cost, but I pulled the driveshaft from my motorhome and took it and got it shortened when my brother and I were adding an auxilliary overdrive transmission to the back of the existing transmission, went back and picked it up in a couple of hours and it was much cheaper than I expected.
