How do you verify if the tow/haul button actually works?

Go 58 mph push switch and watch rpms go from 1800 to 2100, basically it takes the tranny out of high or OD. It痴 noticeable with or without trailer.

I would say need to find a buddy with a GM Tech2. It will tell you what is going on.

It turns 2,000 at 60. Pushing the tow haul button does nothing.

There is no mistaking the Tow position on my 08 Duramax. Louder, higher Revs, shifts totally different.

Pretty noticable on my beater 2005 F250 as well. Shift points jump way up & it gets a fair bit louder as a result, even if you arent keeping an eye on the tach. Engine beaking is there too, but less consistent & not as noticable.

On my 2015 F250 push on the Tow/Haul button before a descent. Hit the brake about medium pressure as you pick up speed it will almost always downshift.

i have 01 1500 silverado w/4l60e trans. tow/haul changes the shift patterns... but will still go in OD. hauling and towing i take it out of "D" (overdrive) and drop down to "3" (no overdrive), mainly in the mountains.

Actually you could go any speed after the transmission shifts to high then press the trailer tow button. It the RPM doesn't change then your tow button isn't working. Alternately to check if the transmission is not shifting to OD just get up to 60 MPH with the tow button engaged then turn it off and note if the RPM gets a couple hundred revs lower, it not then your transmission is not shifting for some reason. This might require a tech to determine the cause,-I know it would in my case.

My chevy does that, hit brakes going down hill, it will downshift with tow mode.

It also locks the torque converter more, to prevent it churning and producing heat.
