I have a John Deere 4410 I and am going to have a 3rd and 4th SCV installed, it comes with an electric diverter my question is, what is the function of the diverter. Does it stop the flow of the hydraulics from the loader to the rear of the tractor, if so does this mean you can only use the loader or the rear SVC,s one at a time, if this is the case does that work O.K. or is their another way where you could use both functions at the same time. Thanks Jackson

Here is the way I understand it for the ten and twenty series. SCV's 1 and 2 are joystick operated and the quick connects are mid mounted for the loader. SCV 3 is controlled by a lever in front of the 3-pt hitch rockshaft lever and the quick connects are rear mounted. The electric diverter provides SCV 4 & 5 (or 3 & 4 if SCV 3 is not installed) and is controlled by the 1/2 joystick. There is a switch located on the fender to switch the joystick between 1/2 and 4/5. You can't use the joystick for 1/2 and 4/5 at the same time, but you can quickly switch back and forth between them. SCV 4 & 5 quick connects are rear mounted.

Top and tilt requires a rear mounted SCV for each function. If you have no loader, you could use 1 & 2 for TNT but would need longer hoses to reach the mid mounted quick connects. If you have a loader and 3rd SCV, but no diverter, you could use either top OR tilt with SCV 3 but not both. With the diverter you can switch back and forth between loader and TNT on the joystick. The loader 3rd-function (for 4-in-1 bucket, grapple, or hydraulic-angled blade) kit comes with a 3rd pair of mid-mounted quick connects that plug into the rear quick connects for SCV 3, 4, or 5. Most people that use the factory configuration would likely use SCV 3 for the loader 3rd function. There are other configurations for 4-in-1 and TNT, but I believe this is how Deere intended it on these models.

CHATCHER,
Thanks for the great explanation you made it easy to understand thanks again. Jackson

I had this put on my tractor also. Not sure if I really need it, but I have it anyhow. Pretty slick unit. Word is, 7 hrs install time by the book.

I also have the 3rd function lines etc as Catcher describes. Basically 3 functions to the rear with a pair of hoses running to a pair of couplers above the 4 mid units

Kennedydiesel,
How about a picture? I'm a sorry shade-tree, mechanically challenged bolt-breaker... I can get pictures! Is there a SCV block that mounts in with the 2 mid-mounts and you run the hoses forward to the grapple, etc. from that? If you have the 3rd rear mounted SCV that's operated by the lever near the 3pt draft lever why not just run longer lengths of hydraulic hoses forward to the grapple, etc. and run it from that lever? Why do you need the electic diverter? Thanks. AKfish

AKfish, go back and re-read Chacther's excellent post. If you are using a grapple, or 4-in-1 what you just wrote is exactly what you would do. You only need the diverter if you need 2 additional hydraulic lines, as in a top and tilt kit. I had the third (rear facing) line put in, with the control next to the rockshaft control. Now I can install a top thrust cylinder on my 3 point or add a grapple to my bucket.

No one else has yet, so I will point out that the electric diverter is not the only option for adding 2 hydraulic lines -- it is just the only Deere designed option. It is certainly the cleanest option. You'll just have a little rocker switch (I assume next to all the other switches on the right fender) and you will use the same joystick that runs the loader.

You can add a third party top and tilt kit, most of which come with a dual SCV control that you mount somewhere convenient and connect to the Power Beyond ports. This option isn't as clean and "factory" looking, but it is less expensive by a significant amount and you'll never be confused about which implement you are about to move.

jeffinsqf, Thanks for the added clarification. I think I understand the configuration or arrangement of how the SCV's are able to all "get along together" but I'd sure like to see what the plumbing looks like, too. AKfish /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Here are 3,4, and 5 functions at the rear. Personally, I'd rather have the lower RH pair in the main bar, but I'm not sure if that is possible with the electric diverter kit.

The hoses from the RH rear pair run up to the orange and blue pair here.

You can also see the diverter block, and lines. Could use a skid plate here.

KennedyDiesel; Great photos. Appreciate it. Does the electric diverter turn off hydraulic pressure for just SCV 1&2 and provide that flow to 4&5? Since SCV #3 is operated from the lever near the draft control how does the electric diverter affect the use of #3? Thanks again. AKfish.
