Image is of some sort of implement that removes stumps. Can anybody describe how it works and what the parts are ? And is it effective ?

It has to be turned 90 degrees to the right and it acts like a hammer pulling a nail in the V slot

MrJimi-
Oh I see now. I assume you have the opening of the V pointing backwards and back into the stump ? But what then ? Raise it with your 3PH ? And what is the rake-like looking thing on top of the V, what does it do and how does it work ? It looks like it pivots and the teeth dig into the ground somehow.
Does this thing actually work very well ?

It hooks up with the opening facing the tree and from all I have read about them, I want to build one for my skidsteer
did you buy It or just thinking about It ?
That one looks rugged and the notches in the channel would hold It to the ground better

My neighbor has one just like that he uses on his MF1155 with a massive hyd top link, it works VERY well although that is a 7-8? ton tractor

Thanks all. Sorry no more pics on the auction site. Saw it at auctionzip.com for an auction (nifty site by the way. Type in how many miles you want to travel from your zipcode and type of stuff you want- ag, etc.- and it spits back a calendar with hotlinks to auctions complete with pics on the days of the auction. This auction where I saw the stump puller is in the Austin TX area. I'm afraid my Kubota probably wouldn't have enough heft to use it... I've seen a similar "V" shaped attachment that fits on the front of an ATV for taking out cedars up to 4 inches. You just drive the ATV over the cedar at 5-10 mph. They have a video that looks impressive with this guy driving all over his pasture taking out in an instant each of those pesky cedars that pop up. Made by some outfit in Alabama I think. Must really do a number on your frame, joints, etc. after prolonged use though but maybe not.

I have looked at a few of these, and I have never seen one with that added tooth piece. That thing with the teeth looks like it is there to perhaps augment the 3PH lift force. It goes on the 3PH with the "V' on the bottom pointing to the rear. It might be that as you back up to the tree that toothed foot/leg drags behind, and as you pull forward the whole assembly tries to polevault up over that leg. But I would think pulling forward would loosen the bite of the "V" into the tree trunk, so that dosn't make a lot of sense.

Perhaps it was designed for use with a hydraulic toplink. Once the "V" is engaged, you retract the hydraulic toplink and the whole assembly pivots and uses that toothed leg as a fulcrum to pry the rootball upward, kind of like a "T" post puller does.

Ron,
That was pretty much my take on it as well. I've never seen one of these before either- maybe because they don't work so hot, who knows. Anyway, I'm gonna miss the auction so I guess I'm relegated to building one if I ever want to play with it. Oh well...
