How does your garden grow?

Nice garden and nice deer fence if I am seeing it correctly.

Tom, it is a deer fence I put up mostly of "stuff" I already had, 7' on the high end with room to add slick wire if need be. Without that, the garden wouldnt get 2":laughing:

It is the same here. No deer fence, no garden.

Garden here is doing fairly good, lost my tomatoes once to a late freeze, so re-planted hose. 1st pic is 10 days ago, 2nd is yesterday. They show mostly the corn and contender snap beans. I know, I need to mow outside the fence, but a pair of wrens have baby's in my tractor, so I will wait until they fledged:laughing:

Nice looking garden. And for ten days, that is a lot of growth. I have been able to keep the deer out with 5' wire. As long as I plant them a garden out back in the woods

Here are the peas seeds I found in my tool bucket. It looks like two different kinds. One is a speckled pea, and one a darker pea. I planted 8 rows of them yesterday morning in my garden, then planted 6 {shorter} rows in Mamma's garden.

My BIL loaned me an attachment for my plow. It was his grandfather's. The two outside tines came on it, but he made the two inside ones from old hay rake teeth. There was only a few minutes of daylight left, but I did the corn and beans. It works pretty good. I'll do everything else in the morning.

No, I just got close to them. It is adjustable, so if you could figure out a way to offset it, you could straddle the row with it. But I don't trust my plow control enough to try it. It did a good job of smoothing out the furrows I had made with the plow. All the rain we have had caused the dirt to be packed. I was just wanting to loosen it up before I side dressed. I didn't broadcast any fertilizer, so I need to get some applied soon.

This year I got my soil tested at A&M and amended the garden, then tilled it a couple of times, then planted. I have side dressed with fertilizer and plenty of water since it is so dry here now. I use a "stirrup hoe my grandad gave me, this works fast and great. I get nervous getting to close to plants, especially the corn!. Started using the weed barrier fabric ffom TSC this year, Jim (Jinman) her on TBN has had great luck with it and it was fairly cheap.

Got ours all planted on Sat. Small space compared to some here (About 25X30), but we enjoy it. I'll post a pic as soon as things start popping up. No need to water yet as it hasn't stopped raining since then We also require the fence to keep out deer and rabbits. Good luck everyone.

I side dressed my corn and pole beans yesterday. I used the plow to cover most of the fertilizer, then used the hoe on what was still showing. Also rough hoed one set of melons. Then last night I bought myself a stirrup hoe at Lowe's. I had to come in to work early again today, so I only had a few minutes to test it out. I worked the Crimson Sweet melons with it, and I think I'm really going to like it.

I set out 36 Crimson Sweet transplants last night. It is one of the best tasting watermelons I have found. I will plant a row direct seeded this weekend.

Also set 36 cantaloupe transplants and will do a row direct seeded this weekend.
