Roger,

You may be onto something. As I was clearing the shoot, I noticed remanent of plastic in there that must be the piece you are talking about. Can I get some pictures of the plastic in your shoot so I can fabricate a replacement for my mostly missing one?

Thanks,
Marcus

Marcus, I have a Erskine 600FM on my tractor. I have found it necessary to make sure the plastic liner in the shute is smooth. If rocks or other items have scorred (I can't spell) it, it will be susceptible to clogging. Someone mentioned keeping the rpms up, let me also add to that, you may have to slow your ground speed - creep along in the heavy wet stuff. You'll find that with "lighter" slow, the snow blower will move it without hesitation and you'll be able to use a faster ground speed. I have put alot of snow through my Erskine 600MF over the past 13 years and not once did I think it was a waste of money.

If you got yours for $2000.00, you stole it. That's a great price for the Erskine machine. Have fun with it. You won't be sorry you bought it.
Roger

I agree with Roger. I also have the Erskine 600FM. Great blower. I have had it 2 seasons now and did have a problem with the chute clogging last winter when blowing heavy wet snow. This past fall I painted it with the highest gloss paint I could find and it solved the clogging problem. I recommend you sand and paint the chute. BTW I do have the plastic liner in the chute.

I have only clogged my blower once and it was my own mistake. It was alot of slushy ice and when I was backing into it I accidently hit the throttle lever lowering it and it clogged. I can tell you what it took me about 20 minutes or longer with a steel bar poking at it to get it cleared. Of course with the PTO shut off.
So I can reccommend keeping RPM's up maybe even a little higher than usual. Move slower so it does not clog. And use some kind of spray like pam, silicone, or fluid film. I like fluid film the best. It acts a lube and rust protectant.

I wonder if I can cut a piece from a 5 gallon bucket to fit in the chute as a replacement for the plastic liner they put in it.

I used ours for the past 5 storms or so that we have had and 3 of them had alot of rain in them so it made it all slush the JD blower works great havent had it cloged and it doesnt seem to hurt the distance any maybe a few feet or so but thats about it.. I use to use a walk behind snowblower and this one on the tractor is so much better for our hill and gets done alot sooner and then more time to play. LOL but the snowblower is the best money you can spend on one of these tractors...

I'm with Coobie -- I use Fluid Film on my blower and rarely have to clear a block -- stops the rust too. Like others have said put it in the 540 pto zone on the tach and leave it there . Once last year I was watching water pour out the bottom of the spout while slush came out the top -- ugly if it freezes on the lane.
Regards

My blower works fine in wet snow. So far no clogs. The only problem I have had is that it gets so heavy my TPH has trouble raising it.

LIving in WI we mostly get the cold dry snow. But on occasion, usually in spring or fall we get rain snow mix that is wet. If you pick up the snow and it drips, its wet.

I don't even get the blower out for that. It either will blow it like a soft serve ice cream machine or it will just clog up into a ball and freeze. That sucks.
