Why not buy straight from the manufacturer.
Rick and Brenda will treat you like gold.
titlmeter

edit........
They can also be bought here at TBN. Click on store (above) and then click on tiltmeters

Spend whatever you like. But the ones Rick manufactures are made differently than a $3.50 bubble level. Anti-static balls, special dampening fluid...etc. He has been good enough to send some free replacements when people here at TBN have had issues. Do a search on the posts by member RBManufacturing and see if you feel the same afterwards.

a) Yes, the posts are very convincing -- not only about the company but about getting a tilt meter in general.
b) The link you posted takes me to a $3.59 cross check level at R&B -- I thought that was the meter of topic. But upon further exploration, I see that he has others priced comparably to the competition. And $40 is certainly cheap insurance in this case. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

>>Do you just bolt them on the steering column or is there more to them than that?<<

I'm not sure if I would mount it to the steering column, but it probably would work.

My advice is to find a place that is easily viewable from the operators seat to mount it. The FEL frame would be a good place, but since you don't have one, you might try to fab up a plate or bracket that you could bolt to something solid. The bracket that R&B includes also gives you some flexibilty for mounting options as well. Some members here have a pic of how/where they mounted theirs. One member that I know of...Pineridge...has a link to his tractor pics in his signature line. Look for any of his posts.

The attachment shows how I mounted mine...

another view...

I just bent up some 1/8 plate steel and used the existing bolt holes on the back of the joy stick ctrl mount, using longer bolts.

I can vouch for R&B's integrity. I ordered the dual axis version and when I received it, the for/aft gauge had come apart. It wasn't broken, just the glue to hold the case halves together didn't hold. I was able to reassemble it, but gave Rick a call to verify if I had put the counter weight in the right position. He told me don't bother fixing it and he would send me another one.

I tried to explain that I didn't need another one, but he didn't want to hear it. He just told me..."We don't do business like that. I'll mail you another." I asked about what to do with the one I have..."Keep It."

I've a tilt meter, and taped it on the cowling while I got used to gauging slopes. Now it's "gathering dust" on a garage shelf. With the brush cutter engaged (i.e., just above the ground and therefore helping lower the whole tractor/cutter center of gravity), my L3410 handles a 12-15 degree slope without issues. Some say you can get to 28 degrees before tipping, but I'm not about to try it. Just once I got near to 20 degrees for an instant or 2 when one of my front tires fell into a depressed area of ground, and I didn't like the feeling at all. Of course, ROPS and seat belt are mandatory, whenever I'm driving the tractor, which is mostly on level ground.

I rolled mine, one rear wheel climbed a bump and the opposite rear wheel fell in a hole. My atavar shows my solution. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
