Hi, Someone told me the L2800 tractor can go 35 M.P.H. on the highway. Is this true? I need to move my tractor from my home to my farm which is 13 miles away and wondering if I could just drive it on the highway instead of useing a trailer.

Thanks, Terry

It ain't gonna do 35 mph without serious modifications.... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Specs for the L2800 indicate maximum forward speed @ 13.7 mph.
You can have it at the farm in an hour......be careful!

I'm looking at a brochure for L series and a L2800 gear-drive transmission with ag tires at rated engine speed can go 13.7 MPH.
an L2800 HST can go 14.7 MPH.

I believe this is true going down a very steep hill in neutral. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

just remember...Gatorboy's comment was a joke...a joke! Do not coast down any hills on your tractor!

Do your remember the 1983-84 Isuzu Impulse TV commercials in which "Joe Isuzu" says, "It'll do 300 miles per hour" while the banner scrolling across the screen says "Downhill in a hurricane!"?

Hi, Thanks for the information. I would be going down back country roads to the farm so I would stay off the main highway. I remember the salesman telling me the speed of this tractor is 35 MPH and now I no he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Thanks, Terry

I would not want to be on it at 35 MPH!

Don't forget the Slow Moving Vehicle sign on the back. In Texas the Highway Patrol doesn't mind tractors on the highway but they will ticket you if you don't have the SMV on the back.

I've driven on the road at top speed in my L3830....35 mph it will not do. Your manual has the specs in there for each gear. Even at 25 mph it's a bit concerning and I can't remember if it will even do 25. The machines are touchy (steering) at that speed and the wheels and rubber are not balanced correctly. It's a rough ride, but certainly possible. Just make sure you take it out of 4WD. I've had fun doing it and every now and again I take a spin up the road just for fun. If it's raining make sure to bring a good raincoat....you'll be soaked. The huge tires throw water all over you. If you take your time it's a lot less taxing and you can just humm along. Everybody waves too. It's pretty funny if you've never done it before /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif -Not sure how safe or legal though...Cetainly it's not too safe, but it is fun!
