The used market will remain strong as well, many of us cannot afford to drop 8k plus on a new cut or scut. My little yanmar is perfect in size for what I need to do, while it cant really run a loader, I dont need that feature right now. Once I get the motor fixed, it will be perfect for me, might even sell my old Kubota G4200 garden tractor w/mower deck. I traded an old cub cadet 682 that needed work as well even for the the little yanmar. So I dont have much into it yet. It will be interesting to see how the cub cadet/yanmar thing works out. In the past the Deere compacts were basicly a yanmar in different cloths. Is Deere going to build thier own compacts now? The market defitnaly isnt going to dry up competely, to many vineyards and small hobby size farms need the machines. Mike

I tend to agree with Toolguy as it relates to SCUT's and CUT's and the flutuations in the real estate market. Hopefully in the long term this will influence the major manufacturors to continue their focus on ergonomics. Unfortunately some unnecessary gimmicks will be included in order to influence buyer behavior. There could be could be good future potential in the used tractor market for SCUT's and CUT's- I already see a fair number of really nice tractors that are nicely waxed and sit in their owners' driveways :( doing apparently nothing but feeding their owners' egos  (I might upgrade someday if the price was right :D.). Interesting that you put Kioti behind Mahindra. Not sure what it is like in the USA but here Kioti is quite a bit further ahead on their dealer network than Mahindra.

Mahindra is a much larger company. They probably sell about 3x as many tractors in the US, globaly they are a very large corporation. Kinda like Indian equlivant of Ford. This stuff is very regional, Mahindra is most visible in the south.

I grew up in India and they are very well known there.

We tend to get most consumer products in Canada much later than you folks do in the US - so given the much larger number of Kioti dealer around here I assumed that they must be selling quite a bit more than Mahindra et. al.

Intesting information.

A couple years ago Mahindra broke the 10,000 tractors/year mark in the USA, and sales are up since then. Around 130K globally this year. That is more than the combined effort of many of the minor brands. But they are still developing dealers and have a lot of gaps geographically. 3 years ago they started focusing on the west coast. As that is developing well, I suspect they will continue the new dealer push until we have 48 states well covered. It takes time, and Kubota, NH and JD are way ahead in that regard.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of years with the minor brands. Mahindra is huge and strong, they are here to stay.

I wonder how the real estate crunch/crash will impact tractor sales? I have seen parcels sit now for over a year in my area. They use to be very well maintained.

I say in the next six months to a year, sCUT and CUT sales will be depressed.
Land just is not being sold, divided or developed like it use to be.... :( :)

Mike, it will have a significant effect. CUT sales boom when property sales boom.

I always suspected that Dave, in fact, I'm living proof.

I'll second that.
I think most of us are living proof of that...those who bought property and then acquired a tractor to maintain it. I know that's what I did too.

I was backwards. I bought a tractor, then bought more property, then bought a bigger tractor, then more property.....

So now I need a bigger tractor!

Heheheh
