DAL 929 wrote>Get your self a battery tender. You can get one from HF for $7 that works great and will leave your battery fully topped off and ready to go. If it's a wet cell Batt you should also check the fluid level. If it's low be sure to add Distilled water only.

He's right,I'II expand on that a little. As an ex motorcycle rider ,owned 13 in all. After I bought a battery tender(not a copy) and topped the battery off reg.with distilled water I never bought another battery. While my co-riders replaced theirs ecery year or two.

Well, after just shy of 12 years my original battery on my BX1500 has give up the ghost. Thought this might be happening the last time I used it, but this time it turned over a couple times and that was it.

And just short of 8 years later there is a reply!

My tractor is 12 years old has 1200 hours and still has the original battery.
Before you change battery check grounding of the engine and tight connection on the starter.
I used to own a Fiat car years ago. It developed starting problem that got progressively worse. While troubleshooting it I opened the hood a tried to start the engine and noticed puff of smoke. Investigation revealed that only connection between negative and the engine was a manual choke cable that got red hot and melted the plastic protecting the cable. Then I found bad connection on the grounding strip between the engine and car body. Tightened it up and the problem went away.

My batteries last 4 years. Three tractors, every four years the batteries get replaced. That's pretty much average over 30 years of owning tractors.

Wow. My battery on my Kubota BX25 is now eight years old and still going strong. They must have put in an extra special one!

I've had a gel cell battery in my previous tractor that lasted eleven years. I put an Odyssey battery plus a Battery Tender on my new tractor. Hope to get 10-12 years out of this system.

8 years on my B2620 battery. Starts right up and it spends the winter outside. I do use the block heater if below 10 F. Suppose it will go someday. The battery in my F150 lasted 11 years though.

I used to get 3 or 4 years out of batteries. Then I started charging them every fall and using a "smart" charger that can also desulphate or repair or whatever it's called. Now I get 13 or more years from a Kubota and about the same from other quality batteries. Now, I faithfully charge every fall and as late in the season as possible.
