Some people like to trade every year or so while others prefer to drive their equipment until it drops.

I envy the previous group, but tend ( for economic reasons) to go along with the second.

My 1992 Camry has 152,000 miles on it, the 1998 Dodge Caravan has 92,000 miles etc.

Recently sold my 1974 JD 110 that had who knows how many hours on it. How about you??

kbarrett,

Had to jump in on this one since next month I will have owned my 1992 Isuzu Trooper for 10 years and 158000 miles with absolutely no major repairs. This was the first re-designed model and bought it loaded. Bought it in Colorado; wheelbase too long for aggressive offroading, but a terrific, reliable car. I researched, researched, researched and have not been disappointed. The cool part of this is I promised my wife that the car would be on the 10 year plan (are you surprised she didn't believe me?). Bought her a Honda Odyssey van a couple of years ago -- also on the long term schedule we hope. This brings me to my big tractor decision -- want to buy only one (I just turned 54). Plan on the tractor outlasting me, so want to make a good decision. BTW, I still enjoy the Trooper; only wish it had airbags. GREAT car.

My secondhand truck I have had for 3 years. That is a record for us.

Our new car we have had for nearly 2 years and will have it too for at least 3 years.

When young and silly we used to buy and sell (second hand) stuff all the time. Now settling down, hence the 3 year stuff.

Now we do have 1 new car, I'd like to keep trading it every few years and keep a goody.

Only been in this house for 1 year too but aim to stay here for a while.

Cheers

(I get restless and bored with one thing for too long - My wife can't work out why I still have her after 10 years ??)

Cheers

But I sure do like being able to put the kids in the front seat when I want to.

Harv,
Nice choice. I work at a Mazda dealer, and have to say these are a great car. Not a lot sold in my area becouse of rear wheel drive, but we very few problems with them.

We buy a new truck about every 4 years for tax reasons. Keep them for around 8-9 years then sell them. We have a 12 day old F-250 right now and a 98 F-150 with 90K miles on it. Just retired a 92 F-150 with 151K since we didn't need it anymore. Truck runs great and has no problems but we needed to spend the money before Uncle Sam takes it so the 92 lost out.
