How Long should Dealer Have your Machine?

/ How Long should Dealer Have your Machine? #21
I do most of my own work, but have ocassion to take my tractor for service. I knew the shop could get busy, so instead of dropping it off, I talked to the owner(small 4 person dealer/shop) and got a "call when ready". He said he could get to it in a week; I called and verified in a week. He needed an extra day, so I dropped it off then.

It was minor stuff with the tractor I could live with, till the shop was ready.

Not everyone will do this, but it is worth asking.

Maybe I am reading this wrong but from what I think you are saying the dealer estimated a week but could not guarantee that until they saw the mower. They picked it up on Monday so tomorrow will be a week. By Friday, five days after pick up, you are condemning the dealer on a public forum. Never a good idea in my mind. Shoot if they had to order a widget from John Deere that could take a week by itself. Think I would take a deep breath, calm down and then go to the dealership and ask about the status of the repair.

My deere shop only took 1 week during mowing season to fix a leaky hydro line.
