I Am buying a TC-33D and may get a 72inch MMM. Does anyone have one of these 914A mowers on a 29 or 33 boomer and how long does it take to unhook/hook it up. And is it a real pain or not too bad. Thanks! Your answers may be the deciding factor on getting one or not. I will mostly likely go with a rear mount instead if its a real pain.

Roto,

I got the TC29D with Super Steer and the 72" MMM.

It is not so bad after you get use to it, but does take some time. I am glad that you can use the 3 PH on them with out taking the mower off. You just pin up the deck and it stays to the top position. If you have the Super-Steer it is almost impossible to take it off without having the FEL on. There is a support bar that runs the length of the tractor and I have not been able to figure out how to slide it out the side. But no matter what the FEL raising the front wheels makes it worth having the FEL on. (FEL only for sliding the deck out and in, not for during the hook up process, don't want anyone under the tractor with the bucket holding up the tractor.)

The 72" MMM makes it a long reach for the mid PTO. I usually slide the mower to one side as far as I can to get the PTO on and then slide it back.

There is 4 pins, 2 in the front and 2 in the back. When taking them out you there is a little trick that is not in the book. You take the front ones out and then you raise the back level adjustment one or two notches to tilt the mower deck and then the back ones will come out fairly easy. Reverse for putting back on. Now the pins trick can change depending on how your dealer sets the mower deck up.

I will try and leave mine on as much as possible except for when I have a lot of FEL work to do or if I am brush hoggin. As far as time, 10 - 15 to take off, 15 - 30 to put on. A couple of choice words have to go with it.

They are not the easiest out there to take on and off. I don't know about Kubota, but my neighbors John Deere is a lot faster.

But I will tell you, with the 33D and that 72" MMM you will have one mean mowing machine.

Without SS, I would say it takes 15 minutes to install or remove without a FEL and 10 minutes with a FEL. It doesn't strike me as being any harder to remove than a standard lawn tractor deck...with one exception: these 7 gauge steel decks are HEAVY!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Oh yeah, if you go with a MMM. don't curse my existence until you installed & remove a couple of times. Practice makes perfect. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

TC33 with SS and 72 MMM.... did it last night. Much easier if you have the FEL on so you can lift the front end up as one member said. It just so happens I am taking the FEL off for the season and putting the MMM on for now... so I need to take care of to attachments removing one and installing an other. FYI, when I don't have the FEL on I drive up on a cinder block to get some hieght to slide the mower deck under. NO BIG deal... but normally FEL is on and no issue.

I guess the hardest thing for me is getting the PTO hooked up and that is probably because I hook it up last and not first ... or whatever I am doing wrong /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Otherwise it doesn't take that long and isn't to overwhelming.. NOW if I can just remember how to get the FEL off.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

When the dealer came out to do the 50 hour service, he recommended hooking/unhooking the driveshaft first then doing the 4 pins.

Ohio,

I have to put my PTO shaft on first otherwise the PTO shaft won't shrink enough to get in front of the PTO. That is the way it is on my TC29D with the 72" I will also push the mower deck to one side so I can reach in easier to get the PTO on. With the 72" deck it is a long reach to get to the PTO.

Also even if my loader isn't on the tractor when taking the mower off or putting on I will put the FEL on to make the mower easier. For some reason I can't slide my mower out either side of my tractor. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or not, but when following the instructions I still can not get the mower out the side unless I lift the tractor up like your cinder block or lifting with the loader.

I use a 1' long pc of RR tie under both wheels on my 35 to let mower slide under.
I also get the creeper out and roll between the rear tires and the pto is real easy to put on.
I can remove and install in less than 5 minutes w/o help.
I usually do this weekly because of rear 3 pt work.

My B7100 kubota takes about 5 minutes to install or remove. Fortunetly I can drive on and drive off the mmm which makes it a lot faster.

I agree with all, but to add my two cents; I have a chain hoist w/trolley located on a beam mounted in the ceiling of my garage. So with both the chain hoist to lift the front of my TC29D (no SS), and the concrete floor to roll the mmm around on, it takes about five minutes to remove, and about ten minutes to install.

My big blue just loves the auxiliary toys I have provided for it. The chain hoist is just one of those tools that makes me say often, "ah - the right tool at the right time ". /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
