How Long Will a Kubota Last?

I've had my Kubota bx2350 since 2005. Bought it brand new and have 2600 hrs on it. Living in Northern Montana we have a lot of temp changes throughout the year, so I change the engine oil every spring and clean and grease attachments after each use. The loader I grease as needed. I do a lot of snowplowing with back blade & loader bucket from -20 degrees to +30. I change the tranny fluid & filter at about every 500 hrs. I have no problem starting it in summer or winter. It stays outside year around. I use the block heater in the winter. I have replace both front tires is all. It has been the best purchase I have made. I don't know how long it will last but the engine still seems tight and I haven't noticed any power issues. If you take care and do routine maintenance it should last you a long time. I would prefer brand new but only 100 hrs or so, I would pull the dipstick on the engine and transmission and see how dirty it is and if there are any metal fragments on it. Check frame for any possible rusting. Look it over good or if your not sure and happen to have a mechanic friend, bring him along to look at it with you. Hope this helps and good luck.

We bought a 3301 with a loader and backhoe and it had 10 hours on it and while bush hogging it died in the field.
This was two summers ago and the dealer tried about everything he could and he was never able to get the tractor running. Kubota rep finally told the dealer to give us a new tractor and ship that one back for R&D.
We're at almost 200 hours on this one and no problems at all. I'm still nervous about the particulate filter but so far regens have been smooth and trouble free.

Curious...
as I have a 2015 L3301, did they ever tell you what happened?

Mine is right at 200 hours and been flawless so far.

No we never found out. The dealer had it for 3 months and finally Kubota said give us a new tractor. They put our tires, loader and backhoe on a new tractor. It would crank over fine but wouldn't fire up, next time I stop by the dealer I'll see if he ever found anything about it. The new one is fine but dad's wanting to sell it . He just doesn't use it much.

I'm going to imagine emissions electronics. The L2501 will be the same as my old L3200. Mechanical fuel pump & just a few relays, making troubleshooting pretty darn easy.

If we are talking about a Kubota, it really depends on how it's used...

IF a home owner has one, for the most part it will be lightly loaded and babied and last a LONG time...

IF that same Kubota is on a working farm and loaded doing farm work, then it's life will be MUCH shorter...

I have seen 50, 60hp Kubota's that are used with a 3 point blower where there's a lot of snow each winter that were smoking pretty heavy and down on power with 4,000 hours on them.

I had one that I used for heavy tillage and rotary cutting and before 2,000 hours the valve guides were pushing quite a bit of oil past them along with other problems... It never lacked for maintenance either.

SO, like I said, it really depends on how heavy they are used...

Kubota MGX Series Tractors Specs Price Key Facts Reaview

I was shocked to see one of the above tractors in the shop for the third new engine yesterday. The shop owner (Kubota trained) said it was a block problem. After the first failure it was overhauled and now that has failed. He said his beef with Kubota is they will continue to build out tractors with their inventory of engines with known issues in stock and hope for the best.

Perhaps this is true for all newer tractors but he states the newer Kubota's will not hold up in a daily grind like most of us came to expect from tractors 20-30 years ago.

Most home owner usage I agree may never reveal these issues. Home owners are not buying the M135 I am sure. :)

CUT's are tough to predict longevity, because so many of them accrue very few hours each year. My JD 770 has just over 1100 hrs. Its a 1989 model. Nearly 30 years old, that's about 37 hours per year. With a second tractor, that accrual will be even less. At 42yrs old, I expect to die before that 770.

I hope my L2501 does at least half as well.

BTW - my father has a small Cat wheel loader with 26,000 hours. Still runs and plows snow perfectly.

We have a 1985 B8200 that says 1300+ hours, but I doubt it's that low. I've had it for four years. It doesn't leak anywhere and doesn't use oil. My BX2200 is over 1500 hours and still runs well. I fuss with maintenance, particularly fuel and filters. We have RTVs at work that are over 3,000 hours that are still going strong. The mechanics are pretty good about calling them in when it's time for service. On the other hand, a neighbor did zero maintenance to his skid loader and blew a hole through the side of the block. I'd rather buy filters and oil and spend some time in the shop than pay his bill.
