How Long Will a Kubota Last?

I have to agree with Art. I bought one from Art in 2005,BX2230. And I still have it. I can count on one hand the number of times it has gone into the shop (including this time). I have worked it hard and would recommend a Kubota to any one !!

I put 5000+ hours on a 1984 L245 I bought new. The only major repairs in almost 30 years were radiators and hoses, batteries, a new suspension seat, mechanical RPM cables, and a power steering pinion that broke while turning hard with a fully loaded bucket. I only sold it because I needed more room in the barn after buying a new bigger tractor.

I'm expecting my 2015 M59 to last my useful lifetime (-; Its the last of the no DEF headaches engines....

CUTs are generally wore out at around 6,000-10,000 hours. Of course a lot depends on age, how it's stored, maintained & abused. Somebody who baby's their machine, stores it indoors, does routine maintnance & puts a lot of hours on it might hit 10k hours with minimal repairs. Beat rental machines might not make 6k with lots of repairs.

Common sense use well maintain key factor for thousand hours.

I’m just curious, what are your thoughts on the new emissions garbage on these tractors and how it will effect longevity. Dumping soot back into the motor would seem to be bad for reaching the same number of hours compared to a pre-emissions tractor.

I don’t think there’s any hope for new diesels providing the nearly forever service life they once did. There’s too much electrical and emissions crap to fail.

And routine maintenance is really important.
I know of a TC 60 with 700 hrs that is 10 years old and so poorly maintained that I would not buy even for $1000.
Same guy had a nice small Kubota that the bug screen was totally blocked, I pulled the air cleaner and you'd swear a birds nest was more transparent.
He figures a tractor needs no maintenance simply because his dad's old ford ran for 12 years without an oil change or any grease.
Needless to say he is not mechanically inclined in the slightest way.
His idea of tools is summarized as a big hammer and vice grips. While he actually owns 5 tractors he buys his grease one tube at a time. I have known him fo almost 10 years and to my knowledge he never has done an oil change.
LOL, his bull dozer stopped moving and he asked me what was wrong. Well the hydraulics for the transmission was bone dry. Once we added 5 gals of fluid he was amazed as to how well it ran.
Total disaster, he never should own any machine.
On the other hand he is an everlasting source of entertainment and actually a very generous guy if he likes you.
I try to influence him as to proper maintenance but so far it is a loosing cause.
He simply is too well off to care.

Take care of a tractor, follow suggested maintenance and don't abuse and a tractor will outlive the tires it rolls on.

I have close to 2000 hours on my BX2200 and it runs fine.

The fluids get changed at the times when Kubota recommends them. I also replace anything that is damaged or otherwise a risk.

I have been looking at an upgrade, but I am tempted to keep the BX2200 and buy another larger Kubota. We'll see when the time comes.

I do like my toys. :)

I generally put less than 2000 hrs on a Kubota before trading it in. The only reason I trade to to get something larger. I've had 6 so far with no major issues.

The local equipment supply store here in town has 3 different Kubota's for rent. The owner tells me he won't consider replacing a tractor with less than 5000 hrs. To me, that says a lot about Kubota tractors since rental hours are as harsh as they get.

I just looked up the last service on my L2550DT and it was at 5600 hours of TOUGH use. It is not a pretty tractor at all. Some body parts are in rough shape due to fertilizer in points that cannot be rinsed.

I keep it on a VERY TIGHT maintenance schedule of LOF every 100 hours and change of hydraulic fluids and front differential every 500 hours.

Many parts have been replaced most likely due to over use such as front axle bearings and housings. These little guys cannot haul heavy loads in the bucket without stress on front parts. New front driveline due to the splines stripping on shaft. Alternator replaced, have a new water pump in the bench waiting for the next regular service to install. Ordinary maintenance stuff like valve adjust and clutch adjust etc.

Little engine has never been apart tough. Only thing done has been new glow plugs 1200 hours ago.
