Isn't ethanol hydrophilic? Meaning it attracts water. Didn't the old "Dry Gas " bottles just contain ethanol? The alcohol binds with the water creating a blob that floats on the top of the fuel hopefully evading the bottom mounted fuel pumps or gravity draining fuel tanks. My recent thoughts have been to keep my fuel tanks at 1/4 full or so during storage and replenish with fresh fuel when they are needed. I have 20+ gasoline engines to maintain and used to keep alot of red jugs full over the winter for genny power if needed. Now I try to not let gasoline get more than a few months old. I also try to run my small engines in the off season a couple times giving them a fresh splash of fuel. I do buy 93 octane - it makes me feel better. No science to back it up.
