FishGuy, Seems strange that people wouldn't just use the optimum antifreeze mix (good down to -75F at least) and forget the circulation system and the hassle to plug it in if there was no added heat. Maybe your unit was malfunctioned and was supposed to add heat.

I usually start mine around 800rpm and do the walk around check out thing. That may take me up to 5 minutes or less depending. Then I drive to the work area at around 1000 to 1200rpm just cruising and that warms it up enough to start working when I get there. Some tractors seem to require quite a long time for warm up? I guess it may be necessary for some, but sure seems like a long time to me. I do use the decompression feature, spinning the motor until I see oil pressure first.
