2009 Mahindra 3316 HST-2008 Mahindra 7010 cab - 2004 Mahindra 6000 4X4
I am trying to decide on a haying tractor and have come down to Mahindra. My dad and I put up about 5000 sqaure bales of hay a year now with a MF 135 and an old international 46 sqaure baler. We are looking at tractors without knowing for sure if we can justify moving up to round rolls or just keep sqaure baling. So if we stay sqaure baling will the 4110 4x4 do okay or should we be looking at say the 4500? If we decide to go the rolling route, will a 5500 4x4 run a newer 4x4 or 4x5 baler? We had a new Vermeer Rebel in mind. Or should we be looking at the 6000 4x4? I gotta say I'm impressed by Mahindra tractors!

I think the 4110 is just too light of a tractor for baling, I baled this summer with a 4500 4WD and it worked great for square bales. I would move up to at least the 6000 for any round baling. Chet

I'd say jump to the 6500 myself. You might find the 6000 to be a bit short on snuff in heavy windrows.

I agree with Woodbeef. I have a 6000. Before I purchased it the dealer let me use it on my farm. It will pull a round bailer, however if that was going to be a big use I would go with the 6500. The 6500 was not out when I bought mine. If you go that route, the 6500 is not that much more than the 6000. Also, Mahindra is supposed to come out with a 75 hp tractor early next year, open station, etc. Might want to think about that as well.

I put up 360 4X5 round bails with my 6000 4X4 and rebel bailer. I only had one problem with a windrow that was folded back on itself and was high enough that I was balling it up under the tractor. The 6000 wasn’t the problem. The problem was that at the speed I was running, low range third gear @ 2200 RPMs it choked the bailer. I reduced the speed in areas where the rows were very heavy and high and had no further problems. I would recommend the 6000 and Rebel combination to anyone. By the way if I never throw another square bail again in life it will be too soon. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
