If I knew I was going to have to go into harm's way I would want a high capacity automatic. If I get woke up at 3AM by somebody breaking into my house I want to lay my hands on something that doesn't take much thought to operate. That is a revolver. I have told this story on here before but here goes.
A friend and co-worker served two tours in Vietnam. Very easy going guy but had a really bad time over there. Ended up running LRRP patrols into areas bombed by B52s. Made it thru the second trip and was pulled out and put at a secure base waiting to ship back home, I believe he was supposed to leave the next morning or so. That night the base he was at was attacked and he and everybody else had to grab an unfamiliar M16 and prepare to defend themselves. He was told to walk around the base or take a patrol or something I don't really remember what. But anyway he rounded a corner and there stood a VC. John aimed and pulled the trigger. Click. Nothing chambered. Somehow he then managed to drop the magazine out. Two tours thru some heavy fighting, lost half a platoon in one day one time but had survived. And he didn't chamber a round and dropped the mag out. The VC took off running. At least that's what I remember now. He would tell that story and tear up and nearly cry every time.
Anyway, if I am woke up in the middle of the night the pump 12-guage takes five separate steps to be able to load and fire one round. My auto pistol takes three steps. The revolver takes one step, pull the trigger.
Hopefully while I am going to the door with the snubby my wife will be loading the pump shotgun and backing me up.

I forgot another step for the snubby, I have to run a finger over the biometric sensor in my gun box to get it out. So it and the auto would take four and two steps.
