How many "engines" do you have?

Re: How many \"engines\" do you have?

1 Tractor
1 ZTR Mower
1 Lawn & Garden Tractor
1 DR Trimmer
3 Chainsaws (They all run, but one has a split fuel tank and catches on fire.)
2 Weed Wackers
2 Lawn Mowers (They may or may not run. I refuse to push mowers now.)
1 Log Splitter

I believe that makes a total of 12 with 10 to 12 possible running motors.

2 tractors
1 Whacker(compactor)
1 tiller
2 chainsaws
2 weedeaters
2 lawn mowers
1 leaf blower
1 chipper/shredder
1 generator
2 trucks
2 motorcycles

Most are in a shed or the garage.

Another poster mentioned cylinder count; that post was around a couple times 6-12 months ago. I have 38. Someone in the old post mentioned having as many cylinders as your age...

More than I got fingers /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The older you get the more cylinders you end up with. Gotta keep the number of cylinders past your age /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: How many \"engines\" do you have?

Gees, now you make me feel bad. Are you some agent for my wife?! I'll spare you the breakdown, and me the typing, but even being sure that I'm missing a few, I still come up with 31, and that's engines not cylinders. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif And all of them are running; well not at the moment, but they all run.

Re: How many \"engines\" do you have?

Yea, it's been talked about. We've also talked about going the other way. I'm one of those in the opposite camp: trying to minimize the number of I.C. engines.

Everyone has to decide what he or she likes best, but personally, I dislike maintaining numerous I.C. engines, especially gasoline. I find that the more of them I have, the less frequently each is used. I.C.s don't like to sit for long periods without running. They're hard to crank. Gas goes stale. Prepping them for storage is a pain.

My goal is to have (other than the cars) only one I.C. engine, the diesel engine on my tractor.

My rototiller, rough cutter, mower, and PHD are PTO driven. Some people without a tractor have to buy devices with their own gas engines. My sprayer is powered by the tractor battery. One day I'd like to replace my gas pressure washer with a PTO model. Chipper/shredders can be gas driven. Mine will be another PTO powered attachment. I have 2 string trimmers: a 2-stroke gas model and a commercial DR unit on wheels; I'd like to replace the DR with a PTO driven unit and the 2-stroke with a heavy duty electric. I plan to get a PTO driven generator rather than one with its own gas engine. I already use an electric chainsaw and pole saw within 150' of the house. With the generator on the tractor, I could take both elec. chainsaws further afield. The same applies for elec. vs. gas driven hedge trimmers.

So anyway, my goal for the future is to have two gas car engines and one diesel tractor engine. Everything else will be driven by the tractor, either by the PTO, the battery, or the A.C. generator attached to the PTO. The fewer I.C. engines I have to maintain, the simpler my life will be.

Just my own opinion. Those who disagree are just as entitled to their opinions.

( Here's a fun one. (I hope this hasn't been done before.)

How many engines do you have in your barn or garage?
I've got 9, and there are no cars or trucks parked in there.

Now, how many of them run?
For me, 8!

LOL.. good question!

Let's see here...

- two hand lawn mowers

- one hand snowblower

- one weedwacker

- one JD4300

- two cars

Of these seven, six are running.. still can't figure out what's wrong with that darn lawn mower. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
