How many hours are too many?

My rule of thumb is that 8,000 hours on a tractor is similar to 200,000 miles on a car. So 1,000 hours on a tractor would be similar to 25,000 miles on a car. Most tractors are dead by 10,000 hours. Most rental yards get rid of their tractors by 2,000 hours because that's when they have to start putting money into keeping them going. I feel these hours are valid for both Ag tractors and construction equipment.

I agree with the others, I would not be concerned about the hours if it is in good shape and has been maintained.
