How many hours is a lot of hours...?

Getting back to hours, in my view, it's not the number of hours on the meter but rather how a unit was maintained. Most any diesel engine when properly maintained will go 10K hours without any major repairs but by the same token, you can destroy one in a couple minutes if it runs out of oil or cooling water.

The lid on my M is not photogenic either but it is pink

Wow. My Kubotas are older and have the old paint color or we just do not have the same level of UV damage. They are a faded orange. Not pink.

There are 2 distinct shades of Kubota Orange, Orange 1 which is the older (pre 2001) shade and Orange II which is the post 2001 shade. ROPS grey and Chassis blue have never changed, except Kubota has basically quit using the blue and just uses ROPS grey now.

They all fade. I think it has something to do with the paint pigmentation.

Paint has come a long way from the dark days when they first banned lead based stuff.

My father has a small Cat 912 loader with approximately 27,000 hrs. Still runs pretty strong, though smokes a little now. For what we do, it will last his and my lifetime!

The nice thing with high hour machines is that the machines were moving. Seals stay wet and pliable, constant maintenance, fuel is turned over and its been used daily. So its fixed if something breaks and maintained because it was needed. Vs a machine that sits in a corner and collects dust. Last thing on someone's mind.

Yep... No move and the seals get hard and they leak, fuel gets stale and grows algae, tires rot from ozone and the battery gets close to expiring too.

I guess not with tractors and ag equipment because everything I own fades. Forgot to mention my 2 CNH balers. They are going from Royal Red to dark pink as well...
