John, that's a very good question and you are correct to be skeptical of such numbers. Will and should are two very different things and the only real evidence that these engines will last a long time is someone here reported a tractor used by inmates in a prison system that had close to 20,000 hours as I remember. That's an incredible number.
To make an accurate "guess-timate" you would have to tear an engine down after 2,500 hours and see how much wear showed up. Then you could probably make an accurate forecast of future performance.
