Hi Dave ,
I think I know that Kubota Dealer your talking about . I also first tried to buy local and gave up with their "Take it or leave it " attitude . I got what I needed somewhere else . Oh , and I tell everyone who wants to know what a lousy dealership they are and how happy I am that I bought elsewhere .

Yes, I shopped around. Local guy, approx. 8 miles away, was with a couple of hundred of everyone else on the tractor price. They did better on the tooth bar, bucket hooks and the misc. stuff. Plus they didn't try to add the mysterious KCC fee for financing in addition to the required UCC fee.

Front tires wouldn't hold air from the first day I had it. With R4's it is hard to tell by looking that the pressure is low. Popped bead on one tire clearing snow from the driveway. Got to the point I had to check the pressure everytime I used the tractor. Stopped by to ask about it and they warrantied two new front tires with no problem. I gave them two tubes and they installed them with the new tires. I think they will be good to work with if I have any other problems.

Did I buy from the local dealer?

Kind of, that is the soon to be local dealer when our new place is finished. The local dealers up buy the big cities were a PITA. The local guy was cheaper and seemed nice.

No warranty work. I service my own toys.

No time delay as far as I was concerned. They picked the machine on a Mon. and had back to me on Fri. and this was just a few weeks ago, right in the middle of the busy season.

In fact I’ll quote the service manager “we would be happy to service your tractor and hopefully earn your business when you are ready for the next one”. Sounds to me this is a great way to run the business!

Local dealer is 3 miles from me on state rt. 7.
I bought my BX23 from a dealer 58 miles down interstate 77
from me.
I have never had to have it serviced.

There is no reason there would be a problem buying parts from a dealer that did not sell you the tractor.

My next door neighbor is A diesel mechanic.

I bought a ZD21 from an out of state dealer. Lower price and no state sales tax. Saved about $900. I'm planning my next tractor purchase out of state also. They tax me on my income when I get my pay check, I'll be damned if I'll let them do it again when I make a large purchase like a CUT. %6 of let's say $17000. That's just over $1000. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif The money could be spent on another attachment. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I bought my L4400 from my local dealer, about 15 miles away. The salesman was nice, took me seriously even though I'm a noob (salesmen _should_ love a noob), he followed up on me without being pushy, they had the best price by far, and were clearly into customer service. They drove a long way to get my rear remote to have it installed when I wanted the tractor. They delivered it to my farm, about 45 miles, for free. They forgot the drawbar, but gave me a Kubota hat for the trouble of coming to pick it up.

Another local dealer (about 25 miles away) was arrogant and accused me of trying to get him into a "bidding war" with another local dealer. I told him that I was definitely trying to get him into a bidding war. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif But, his price was nowhere close to the local place I bought from.

I checked at various dealerships in the region and no one was nicer and no one had a better price. So my decision was easy.

The different experiences at different dealerships of the same brand (and different brands) was really amazing. I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

No need for service yet (5 hours).
