Curiously, what were some of the meals you tried? Historically, people used to eat some stuff that would be considered pretty gross today.

What's the trick for rolling out the dough? I never can get it to stretch out evenly. My attempts to toss it would get me a slot in Fail Army. :ROFLMAO:

Keto dough has no gluten either, so it doesn't need to be stretched. It rolls out much like a pie crust would. Typically if a yeast dough is too elastic, if you knead it out by hand, flatten it, and let it rest 10 minutes, it will become much less elastic.

My wife has always cooked, shopped and taken care of our daughter, son and myself in addition to working a full time job.
My job required extensive traveling and my health has always an issue and still is so when I was home I had a mission to fix & plan ahead with home improvements because we knew one day SHTF!!
It did in 1989 when I received my first of two liver transplants. Recovery was slow but I did get up & going again and back at providing and trying to get ahead.
My wife qualifies as a super hero with all she’s been through & done.
We would not have survived without her tenacious will to do what ever needed to be done.
It’s been 35 years since my first transplant and we’re still going.
Long winded answer to who cooks but I felt an explanation was needed.

I am the cook and baker. I maintain the property, run the bee keeping operation and have a small lawn care biz in retirement. My wife is a realtor... Basically we spend most of our time together and enjoy life

I enjoy cooking as well, and I am darn good at it. I started really young and then cultivated my experience by cooking in restaurants as a younger man. I was also raised by 2 women (mom and grandmother) who are excellent cooks, so I am sure that helped. When I am not as busy as I am right now with our addition I probably cook 60-70% of the time in our household. I can whip something up with just about any ingredients. But yes, when I have the time I REALY REALLY enjoy cooking for family and friends.

My wife was never much of a cook in her younger years, but she has been enjoying the learning process and has become a good cook. She does not really have the skills to improvise yet, but she is getting better.

My mother moved down the road from us a little over a year ago and she is a PHENOMENAL cook and LOVES to cook for others. So we are now lucky enough to get a home cooked meal from mom at least once a week. We all have Sunday dinners together most weeks. We love it. But most importantly mom is over the moon happy to be here with us (my family and brother) cooking and helping us with whatever she can. After so many years of living far away she is now close to us and she couldn't be happier. And that makes me happy!

Dining out tonight

Tomorrow, I'm making 8 pans of cornbread to take to the church for the chili cook off on Sunday day.

I'll be prepping for the cook off on Sunday day as well.

Haven't figured out dinner for tomorrow night.

Sunday night will be all the chili I can eat

I'm competing as well. So.... we'll see how that goes.

My Mom is a great cook and I learned a lot from her. She got her journeyman bakers papers when she was in her 60’s. I do a lot of the cooking here and my wife is the baker in our family. Our best success comes when we are together in the kitchen. She is the recipe girl and I just wing it a lot. We complement each other.

I’m the primary cook in our house, but other than my own clean up, I don’t do the dishes. Wife would rather do the dishes but does have a few things she like to cook. Meatatarians but she makes great salads.
Both grew up in large familes. Being the oldest of 8, my Mom made sure I learned to cook early on.
I like recipes. When looking for something new I’ll look at several then just make my on. Use both our Primo grill and gas grill year round. Perhaps my favorite appliance last couple of years is the air fryer. Love it. Live completely off grid so I consider it free cooking compared to the propane stove.
We go to or host many potlucks during the year, leftovers are slim.

Someone gave us one a few years ago. Used it 2 or 3 times and thought it was more trouble than it was worth, plus it was a major counterspace hog. Gave it away.

Made fried boneless pork chops, mashed potatoes and corn tonight. I prefer my pork chops fried, but at the same time, I hate the mess of it. Wife doesn't fry much of anything anymore, but she used to a lot. Last night she made a potatoe and bacon soup, which was really good.
