How many of you park your tractor in a building?

( I park my tractor and keep all attachments inside. Our vehicles currently are outside, and this priority has my wife a bit confused. But, I say to her, "the tractor must stay inside to keep it looking new!!!" She seems to understand, at least so far.

I had this subject opened up to debate with my wife sometime back. I keep all my farm equipment in an enclosed, heated barn. We park her car and my truck outside in the elements. She questioned the logic behind that choice. I then gave her the option of opening and closing the barn EVERY TIME she wanted to use her car. That killed that.....

Also entering into the equation is the fact that she gets a new car every two or three years. My NEWEST tractor just turned 27.

Respect your elders, I always say!

Since I don't have an inside I keep mine covered with a tarp using those little bungee cords making sure the tires are covered.

It might be cheaper to build a separate garage for the Misses w/heat /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yes. We have a one car garage, a two car garage and a 10X20 storage shed.... with no cars inside! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I've got a trailer queen that stays inside my heated garage, and the rest live in the barn, some live under a pole/leanto, and a couple are living under tube frame / tarp structures.. etc.

I have always wondered just where that quaint, misguided notion that garages are for vehicles came from.

As for my equipment, I was blessed with at 20x20 frame shed, concrete floor when I bought this place. All equipment inside it. When I got a 42" rider mower I had to cut the 6" thick, 2' high hard concrete kneewall to widen the door enough to get it in. That was a fun project.

Gracious but it looks like I'm one of the very few that keeps the poor old tractor out in the weather. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

We don't have a garage or barn to put it in so it stays outside. The JD set in the woods for 5 years before we got the house built. Now it sits on a gravel pad were the barn will be built one day.

I used to keep a tarp over the tractor but that was a pain. So I don't do that anymore. Basically the tractor does not care if it is in the rain or not. I know my truck does not care. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If I had a place out of the weather it would be parked there. But I don't think it really matters. The worse thing caused by sitting outside in five years was the drops from trees. I power washed it for the first time last year when we finally had a well on the property and that got rid of the spots. The plastic ain't gonna rust. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I keep my tractor and all my implements in a 42x60' insulated, heated pole barn. After all the work my tractor did for me, I feel it has earned every nice thing I can do for it. Did I mention that I REALLY like my Kubota. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I built a 40x60 shed before the house so I had a place to store all of my toys and tools. We also have a 30x30 attached garage on the house so everything is inside, unless its being used.

Inside. Before the Kubota helped build it's new home, it stayed in the garage. Now it has a nice 20'x24' barn for a home. Which reminds me, I need to post pictures of the building process.
