How many of you still own a timing light?

I have a couple! I bought your Snap-On timing light at that garage sale too. I have Dad's Modle A, Mom's 66 Riviera, a 2 ton 50 Chevy truck, 69 Jeep Wagoneer, 83 Chevy 4wd van, Ford engine in the Michigan Loader.

What do you mean still?......I never bought one.

I have always set my timing by feel.

I adjusted my villager 2 weeks ago, after a timing belt replacement.

A friend who is a mechanic, laughed, and checked it. Spec's call for 7-9 degrees. It was at 7 :thumbsup:

i used mine just last week: on my lawn mower: couldn't get it to start an wanted to know if i had spark or not: without removing the plug etc: so i hooked up the timing light an bingo: no spark: so i was able to trace it to one of those safety switches that i know are necessary but i hate.

I used mine two weeks ago when I adjusted the timing on my welder.

I still have mine. Including the Tach and Dwell meter, Vacume gage, Compression gages, Etc! Had an old 78 Chevy pickup that required them all at one point or another. Sadly they all look good as new in the drawer in the basement. Haven't used them in some time now. Although the timing light makes a good way to check your spark plug wires!

A timing light is still a relevant troubleshooting tool. You can check timing chain/belt stretch with one. I have done that many a time. This does depend on the placement of the distributor. Also check for no/intermittent spark, loads of different things.

Yep, still got one and use it quite frequently. Lots of frends with old cars and tractors. Most garages only have the comuter stuff so I get to muscle in on there short falls
