Wow I would have never guessed that there was that much difference in what you do or do not get with your dealer.
I thought maybe the 50 hour service and free pick up and delivery on warranty issues was a "Kubota" thing not a dealer thing.

Well I guess I will have to call and find out. I would be able to borrow a trailer and drop the tractor off it they will do the 50 hour service at no charge If they are gunna charge me for it, I will just do it myself. It doesn't sound hard to do, just a lot of fluid and oil to deal with. Guess It'll come in handy for burning brush and trash and lubing up bicycle chains and such

When I bought my new Dodge Pickup truck, the Dodge dealer offered me 5 free oil changes. I said "no thanks" as it is too much hassle to schedule a time, drive there, wait, etc. I'll pay a few bucks and do it myself. So this never came up with Kubota, as I told the guy up front that I would be doing the maintenance myself. Even with so-called professionals, I still prefer doing it myself to know it's done right. I'll take a few more minutes to clean the hydraulic screen, oil the rubber gasket on the filter, tighten things just right but not too much, etc. I don't trust some guy who is doing it all day long and may have his mind somewhere else.

I bought from a dealer out of state, because his price was WAY lower than any of the local dealers, who wouldn't match it or even come close. I told him at the time that I intended to do routine maintenance myself, but made sure that I could look to him for anything complicated that went wrong.

No worries or problems since and couldn't be happier w/ both the deal and the tractor. (it's only a B7800, but I haven't had any problem with it being "underpowered" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ).

I don't have the tools or the know-how for anything major, but routine periodic maintenance isn't hard. I think that I take more time and care than a dealer's service folks would, because I'm not working against any "productivity" or profit standards. Whatever the standards may be, they sure don't require any more time if the service is "free." /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif For those reasons, I don't think that I would have tried to get a "free" 50 hr service even if I had bought from a nearby dealer.

I got squat. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

No hat, no shirt, no pickup and delivery and no 50 Hr service for free. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

As a matter of fact, after spending well over $30,000 at this dealer in the past six months, I didn't even get an owners manual or spare key! He mumbled something about having a "magic basket" somewhere full of keys and books /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. After a couple of reminders from me he did have one shipped from the parts depot in CA - a fair quality spiral-bound photocopy.

Overall, and at the time, I thought the deal was fair. In retrospect, I may have driven the other direction and purchased from a dealer in another town. THEY had HATS!

Why ARE educations so darn EXPENSIVE?????
