How many tractors would you own?

This is easy
One in the 20 horse range for being nimble and mowing
Two Kubota 5740HSTC+'s with so I could leave more attachments mounted, front( forks, hay spike, bucket, grapple) and rear (box blade, shredder, disk, back hoe etc .)
One in the 80 or 90 hp range.
One tracked dozer
one little bitty one for the grandkids to play with:cool2:

Of course, all would have max number of hydraulic ports, matched implements front and rear, lights, cab/air, etc...:thumbsup:

I often wonder the same with cars. I think the right number for both tractors and cars are 3. I've got 2 tractors now and really only use 1, but I'd love to have an excavator of decent size (to move big rocks) and/or a bigger tractor and BH for the rare jobs that I have that require much more power and weight... though given the rarity of those jobs just renting (what I do now) is probably a lot more realistic. I do really like the older tractors too though and can't drive by one for sale without thinking about if I should take a look, so from that perspective if I had the time to work on one I might end up with more

With three tractors and two mowers I have enough of them, what I would like is more time to use them on my own projects.

You guys are forgetting the old "barn rule". That is, when building a barn always build double the size you think you need in order to wind up with what you will actually need for space. I think the same rule applies to tractors in that we'll always need more than what we think in order to cover all the things we will discover we need later in life. In fact, I forgot to add a D-5 sized bulldozer as well as a larger backhoe tractor to my stable so up my total that I can't live without to 17.

I was thinking about this the other day as a worked on my newly acquired 1949 JD B tractor. It's a big brute with PowerTrol hydraulics and the rockshaft for a 3pt hitch. Paid $1750 for it. Thinking back on the 7+ years I've owned my 10-acre spread (and which is also the total time I've been tractoring), everything I did on my place with new tractors (2005 Kubota B7510HST with the LA302 FEL and later the 2008 Mahindra 5525 with the ML250 FEL), I could have done with that JD B (discing, mowing, planting with the grain drill, baling). I could have saved a bundle of money that I've spent on new tractors (about $20K) by using the JD B as my everyday tractor and just renting a skid steer when I needed to do bucket work. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

To answer your question, I have six tractors now all more or less shedded. That's my limit unless I build more shed space which I don't think is going to happen.

Oh my....listen to the voice of experience here, guys....it's much easier to keep a collection of tractors happy than even one woman...and a neat thing about a tractor is if you decide to get rid of one or collect another one the process is much easier and a LOT cheaper....:laughing:

One all in one swiss army style ytractor would be my choice. One that does it all-kinda like a Bobcat Toolkat? My reason is "Cause you can only sit in one seat at a time anyway"
