How much HP can a bcs 735 handle?

I was thinking of putting a 18hp kohler command pro enginenon my 735. Will the clutch handle that much power? I want the power for snowblowing mainly.

The 745 came with a 14hp lombardini diesel engine. The clutch will be the weak link I suspect. Get the biggest clutch you can.

If the shaft is 1 inch, I don't think you'll have a lick of trouble with the clutch as the blower doesn't need near that much HP (unless you got one of those 2 stage Bertas), but you'll not like the weight that engine adds. You'll likely need several extensions. That, or you'll need to add a lot of weight to the blower.

Here's a video of me blowing snow with a BCS 605 with 8hp Kohler Magnum and a 28 inch blower. It coulda used a *touch* more horsepower, but not 18...

It does have a 1in shaft. That's why I thought about doing it. I never considered the weight factor. I also have a 14hp Kohler single sitting in the shop I just picked up from Northern Tool. That would be much better for the weight factor. I just need to right a plow before the snow flies.

I don't have a blower yet. I would love to buy one of the Berta 's though. I've been searching craigslist around st paul all year to see if I could find a used blower. I have to get a rotary plow in spring too!
