One additional way to view the situation is this:

Take the sale price of the TC40, and divide it by 40 to get the cost per hp.

Then take the sale price of the 45, and divide it by the hp and get your cost per hp there.

Lowest cost per hp is best value for $ spent.

I would add a "NO" to the equation. Your only using that PTO for the brush hog and either one would handle a 6 footer with no problem. I can run a 5 foot with 24 HP no problem.
