hi

I'm sure you will get a lot of different answers here but in general for a 48 inch one will be around 550 to 600 for a low to about 1000 on the high side. I went with the John Deere LX4 for my 2210. It was 970 which is on the high side but I'll explain why I think it was worth a bit more. First it seems to be built pretty good and nice paint and matches the tractor, may not be important but hell it looks good. The top hitch has a lot of movement that allows the mower to ride up an down with the terrain so you don't bend the attach supports. It also has two sets of holes for the lower 3 point pins, if you mount the pins in the lower holes it allows you to lift the mower higher which can be a problem with some implemnts due to the limited lift height on the 2210. It also came with front and rear chain gaurds and a slip cluth,,,no shear pins to mess with. Just for your info the PTO shaft supplied with it is too long and must be shortened which is not a big deal or it must be used with a quick hitch, I opted for the Imatch from JD, its another 200 bucks but sure is slick, I was wanting to get one anyways so wasn't a big deal . The other plus is the dealer had it in stock and would deliver, saved me renting a trailer. I guess I'll let some of the others throw their 2 cents in on the other brands.

I bought mine at Tractor Supply and it has done well by me. It depends on what you are going to do with the equipment. I only cut grass with mine and felt I did not need the extra cost or quality of a JD product. If you are going to do brush and saplings, I would say get the best you can. Not to say that the TSC brand could not do it but my perception is that the JD equipment is better quality. Also, if you pull the bush hog on and off the tractor a lot the quick attach system is nice.

The TSC bush hog was about half the price - $500 of the comparable Deere model.

I have a Woods standard duty 60 inch at about $1100. The 48 should be a bit lower in cost. I also looked at the JD MX series. Try to get one that has a slip clutch and heavy duty trailing weel if possible. I dont think it adds much to the cost. In any case I think the Woods is very good for the $$ and I wouldn't want anything heavier for my tractor. Good luck and be safe with it.

I bought a used JD 403 for my 2210 and am happy with it. I think Deere still sells this as the 413? It's not as luxo or HD as the MX4 but a lot cheaper as I recall, and quality is more on par with some of the non-green brands mentioned here. I have cut brush and small saplings (2") with no problems and the part-time farmer I bought it from used it to chop cornstalks on occasion so it has the strength and durability to do some real cutting. If I was going to cut a lot I would expect to spend $1200 or more, if light-duty than go for something cheaper.
