How Much is a Local Dealer Worth?

10% on a tractor purchase is a lot of money so I would take the deal. Who knows, you may not need much from the dealer in the way of service or repair. If you do, the local guy would honor warranty service, and probably appreciate any other work too.

I have paid good money to buy local when I could have gotten more product or upgrades from a bigger dealer. It's your money.

Check out the service and parts departments at these local dealers. Pick the one with the better equipped facility. Ten percent difference is pretty much in the noise and would not be a big swinger IMHO.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the input y'all. I have made the purchase from the lower cost dealer. They are delivering to my house at no cost.

I should be destroying - I mean fixing - our gravel drive by Friday evening.

My two dealers are 4 hours away, one is north (he priced out a ck 27 hst with loader and front mount snow blower at $41,000.oo) and the other is 2.5 hours south of me (he priced out the same ck 27hst with loader and front mount snow blower at $31,000.oo). I have a friend that deals with the one south of me and my friend said that the dealer was 'not big on service'. I bought from the dealer 2.5 hours away, saved myself $10,000.oo. The machine has not been back to the dealer yet. He did come to me and fix a hard shifting problem along with the leaking blend valve for the heater. No charge. I buy all my parts from him as well.

GREAT! I think you made the right choice too. Good luck with your new tractor. Enjoy learning it's uses and how to use it properly and safely. Be sure to post plenty of pics. What did you buy?? KW

That has got to be the most stupid reason I have ever read....I really wonder about some of these guys business models. I don't know beans about tractors I freely admit that (but I am trying to learn) but in the car business (worked for GM) I do know a little bit about.....Service is where you make most of your money. Selling a car there is very little profit in...it is like buying a gallon of milk you can get the same thing many places, but if you sell the service, and personal touches that is where you can make real money.

I think my dealer must have come from that automotive background....sounds like the dealer you are talking about is one of those I am doing you a favor by taking your money.
My tractor came with 3 year bumper to bumper warrantee and 5 year drive train, tractor dealers usually do not get tractors back for services like a car dealer, mainly just warrantee work not much money in that.

I wouldn't know since the closest dealer is 75 miles away.

It really hasn't mattered because in the 8 years I've owned my B7800, it has only been back to the dealer once and that was for a free 50 hour service.

Again I don't know about tractors but for car dealers that was the gravy jobs. But as far as service goes I don't always mean fixing busted things....but those little extra personal service things.....washing the machine. Putting a wire tie on a loose this or that. Little things that make you feel that they did just something extra that they did not have to do when you went and bought X. Or wanted Y installed on your machine.
