How much land do you have? Who has the most on here?

I don't recall EVER being somewhere where I could not hear mankind if I listened long enough. I also do not recall ever not seeing contrails in the sky.

I do. 11 Sept 2001, I was in Tooele UT and we had just gotten back from a backpacking trip very late on the 10th.

I only have 12 and its pretty secluded. But if you want quite my Grandfathers 200 acres in central Ms. is on a road that was all brothers and is a dead end. My Grandfathers house is the last on the road about 5 miles from pavement. The Natchez Trace is the closest paved road. When I'm deer hunting there you can hear the deer walking before you see them if you're in the woods. If the wind's not blowing it is silent. I love it. I pee outside every night; never have to weed eat by the front porch.:thumbsup:

Aaron- hey I was living in SLC that day and you're right the sky was clear.

I remember sky like that when I was a kid. I was disappointed several years ago when I took my family out to Yellowstone because the skies were cloudy every night we were there. That was their best shot at seeing darkness... unless, of course, I count the time we had a power outage. I ran them outside in the dark and made them look at the sky. It was the first time I saw the Milky Way in decades. That was a pretty good night! :thumbsup:

I also forgot to mention that I do not ever recall a night of star gazing and not seeing a man-made satellite fly over in the last 10 years.

Of course, I guess all of us older guys seen the Russian Sputnik Satellite put up in orbit way back. When was that Moss? Late Fifties or early sixties? Ken Sweet
