How much oil pressure

Powellfun..........changed the oil and filter last saturday.......took it for a longggggg drive down the private road in order to get it hot.....been to wet to really WORK it.......anyway does the same thing.........at 800 to 1000 RPM the oil light will flicker......oil pressure guage indicates a solid 25 PSI........then at 1200 the flicker goes away with pressure at 30 PSI..........WHEN I changed the oil I had not really gained any fluid.......had used perhaps half a quart in 30 hours or so....didnt smell like diesel......color was good........Talked with an old time wrench who said instead of rotella 15-40 go to a straight 30 weight..............seems according to him that the rotella is to thick and gums up the works.....does that make sense?...........another advised me to go to a straight 50 weight cause the other is thinning to much.............PERHAPS I should trust my guage that says I have oil pressure and just not idle below 1000..........that is what I am gonna try through the summer or at least mowing my pasture and cleaning up 5 acres that I just purchased next door..........lots of logs to drag and get some seat time.......IF IT EVER QUITS RAINING so I can get up and down the hill..........anyway........it keeps running.....DO YOU HAVE A PRESSURE GUAGE?????????.......Dennis

That old-time wrench gave you good info on the oil viscosity, at least as it relates to my Iseki TS1610F (Isuzu motor). The owners manual is explicit about oil viscosity and warns to use no other viscosity than straight 30wt (rated for diesel service) when ambient temp is above 80-deg.F. Below 80-deg. it recommends 10W-30 or straight 20wt. I use Mystik JT-8 that I buy at the Big-R store.
