Mahindra is the closest dealer to me. I'm kinda looking at a 5500 series. The price for the 2wd is great, but the dealer says the 4wd is 5000.00 more. In the Kubota GL series 4wd only adds about 2 grand. I realize the 5500 and 5500fwd are different machines, just wanted to know if the difference is about right. Thanks in advance. MP

Let me guess///Your dealer has a 5500 2Wheel drive on the lot?? If he does, he obviously wants to sell it. Realistically, I believe that 4Wh vs 2Wh is about $3500. Hopefully someone who's done some shopping lately will chime in. Good luck! BobG in VA

The Kubota GL series are CUT machines, the Mahindra 5500 is a utility tractor. There is a big difference in weight and abilities of those two machines, even if you get the bigger GL with the hp that is comparable to the 5500.

hope this will help, i paid 18000 for my new 5500 fwd with 6'cutter and 6' bb, i noticed you live in houston, shouldnt be to hard to find a mahindra dealer, there is one in conroe called top flight and one in cleveland called Bar J which is where i bought my set up, if you need any help call top flight in conroe and talk to Gene Cry, he is a good and fair person and can give you a good price, i live a few miles away from his dealership and they have alot of parts on hand, and i have bought some items already.

Allen and all, thanks, it does help. Allen, was that with a loader? It would be REALLY good if it was. My only real reason for buying a new tractor is for a FEL and the Mahindra 260 FEL seems to have lots of power. The 5500 2WD with the FEL was quoted at 15,025.00 with a rebate, 4WD at 5000 more with FEL. Everyone seems to think 4WD is needed for FEL work, but I've only had a 2WD tractor with no loader, so I don't know myself. I'm down to either the mihindra or a kubota m series. The next step is finding the cash.

Keith, I kinda do understand the difference between a CUT and a UT. Thanks though.

Bought a 5500 fwd in Dec. '05. Dealer provided a price list of $15,700 for 2wd, and $20,000 for the 4wd. My dealers price sounds a bit on the highend after reading some of the other post...
