You don't need to start a new thread each time you've changed something, just FYI. As I said before, you need to get the chains installed properly before you go cutting anything. Those are not installed properly. You should not be using tie wire for holding anything together on tire chains. Did you watch some of the videos in the link I posted? Finally got around to putting my tire chains on the tractor, now the qustion is how much do I cut off.these are both tires.
That is because of incorrect installation. Heed Blueknife's advice!Yeah I watched the videos. If I don't use wire they work ther way off the tire.
Which video? When you say that you put them on like they did in the video, do you mean that you got them onto the tires the way that they did or that you actually installed them (all hooks attached and tensioners in place) the way that they did. You have the cross links facing the right way, so you're on the way. Getting them onto the tires is just a step in installing the chains. If the two pictures that you posted in this thread illustrate how they installed them in the video, then they didn't have the faintest idea what they were doing.I put thoes chains on the way they put them on in the video! . The cross link is facing up just like you guys told me to do it so how can they not be right?.
Ok. Now cut the wire off and finish installing the chains. Everything attached and tight, hooks on the inside, latch hook/cam hook on the outside, tensioners in place.I took the ends of the chains and put wire though them then though the rim and I drove the chains on stopping a few to fix them.
