How much tractor to get...?

I'm not one to give advice on tractor size. I've "upsized" over 12 times in the last 20 years. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif From that, I suppose you can figure out that it is easy to buy too small. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Chipper, Soundguy and Jinman both are giving you some darn good advice. (Dargo, I know you well enough to know that you WANT to buy newer & bigger tractors every 18 months /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) I guess I fall somewhere between Jinman and Soundguy in my thoughts. For a one tractor owner, I think Jinman's comment about buying the tractor for 80% of your tasks is pretty much the spot on answer. You will be making compromises 20% of the time, with either a too big or too small tractor, but that is the reality of tractor choices, no one single tractor is best for all jobs. While I don't have all the toys Soundguy does, I do use multiple tractors and find that to be the the best choice for me (and just like Dargo, I like to have the toys so that is probably why I have more than I really NEED but less than I WANT).

What you need ot look at is the long term tasks, and find the machine that is going to be "big enough" to tough out the biggest tasks, yet "small enough" not to destroy too much when working on he gentle jobs.
