How much water for a 1 acre garden?

What I'm worried about is digging the well, buying the pump and the storage tank, and finding out that I don't have enough water in the tank to get anything done. Eddie

I realize you know this but remember you will have a reservoir of water in the well. If you hit water at 30' but drill down 300' depending on how far off the bottom you suspend your pump you could have 300 gallons in the casing. A 6' casing has 1.5 gallons of water per foot.

Of course it all depends on your wells ability to replenish itself; how many gallon per minute. Also the method you chose for irrigation.

You could also have a float in your above ground tank to turn the well pump on once the tank gets to a predetermined level to refill the tank.
