I picked this Cherokee up yesterday at Carmax, they went over the Carfax with me, just showed normal maintenance, I just took it for granted they didn't lie.... 2018, 28,000 mi, $20,999.00+ tax $1,500, +$35.00 selling fee or something, then being under Murphy's Law I added $1,500.00/5year/12500mi warrantee with $100.00 deductible.

Fair to say cars have changed since 2004, right now I'd still have to ask the wife how to get in it, start it and I had the dealer show me 3 times, then the touch screen, wow, I got I can do to get on youtube.....

Now the next step, make it last, so far this is about the best option I found to slow rust from taking a car/truck before the motor goes. NH oil, a yearly oil base spry on rust deterrent, guess there no such thing as spray it and forget it.......... Stops Rust! New Hampshire Oil Undercoating at Luce's in Union Maine - YouTube
Motorhead Garage, What is Oil Based Rustproofing - YouTube

Other option is move to Texas.............

I had planned to do that to my Colorado this fall but it never happened. Another option was to park it when they started spreading crap on the road and use my company truck all winter... maybe next year I'll go that route.

Strange that I just happened to see this thread. We bought a car for my son in August of 2019. The dealer showed us a CarFax report that showed all kinds of routine maintenance to the car and show a minor accident from June of 2015. Thinking, OK, that was four years ago, the car is probably OK if it has still been run that long. Over the year or so, we've noticed a few odd things about the car. Hood latch not working properly, that type of stuff. Fast forward to this past Monday night. My son wanted to trade it in for a truck. The dealer ran a CarFax report on it. In July of 2019 (one month before we bought it) it was reported the car had been in an accident with major structural damage. Along with the item the new buyer had been made aware of the damage. Then it shows where we bought the car on August 10th. It also shows where we were made aware of the damage - except we weren't made aware of the structural damage - only the damage from June of 2015.

Had we found this out before August of this past year, CarFax would have purchased the car back from us because of an omission on the report.

Laws differ by state, but there might still be some recourse if there are problems with the vehicle and the original owner neglected to report major damage.

I get all mine undercoated with Fluid Film every fall. Kind of stinks for a week or so, but it seems to help.

From what I looked up NH-oil is about equal to FF, just less odor, for me the biggest difference is location, about 12 mi away NH-oil. I wonder if it's anti New Hampshire not having New Hampshire under coating put on their car...........

For me it would be to aggravating without a car lift, it's $200.00 to have those guys do it...

For 200 bucks you're right. Now I really regret not having it done this fall. I'm not sure how long it lasts though. My Ranger was done before I bought it yet that thing rusted all to cat stuff the first winter that I had it.

The Cherokee is a nice vehicle, I like that size.

The problem with having "those guys do it", is that they only do the areas you can easily see.
Many years ago I bought my own professional rustproofing equipment, being tired of fluff & buff by "professional" applicators.
To do a GOOD job takes nearly a whole day for a car!
I am too old now, so gave my expensive ARO equipment to a Canadian friend.
They REALLY need it!

And that would be the same problem I'd have unless the car is up in the air.

I cant imagine taking all day to spray rust proofing under a car, according to that video it took less then 2 hours on his SUV. Ether way I dont want to crawl under a car with a spray gun but later on I might consider making a ramp off a bank, high enough to stand under
