A couple of "adjustments" with the forks on the Bobcat so that the bumper didn't protrude out so much and we're good to go until I get 'er to a body shop!

Need to get diminished value at time of accident - insurance should pay repair cost + diminished value - but you need to fight for it, they typically won't just offer it.

You can bet that I will if I ever get in an accident again.

Late to the party as usual. Glad there were no injuries in the accident. Florida has many New Englanders(Yankee & Red Sox fans) along with a good dose of eastern Canadians. A point was made that the vehicle will never be back to normal. I beg to differ in that I had an interstate head on collision with a young driver that lost control coming on an onramp in MA. Our car was initially estimated at $13K damage and ended up being $24K when all was said and done. This car, a 2003 Acura MDX, had 35K miles on it when hit and now has 172K. When fixed it was as good or better than new. The key point was to find the best repair shop that had Acura experience. Glad you're all right Todd. As said the truck can be fixed and I would say fixed well. Good luck......Gary

I wasn't the arresting officer. I didn't write the ticket. All I heard the cop tell the guy was that his license had been suspended for failure to pay a driver assessment fee from a previous ticket. I assume he was talking about the license from whatever state the guy got it in. Obviously people drive through states all the time in which they don't have that particular state's license, so I don't think there is such a charge for that situation.
Sorry that I didn't take the time to look up the statute and give it to you in "plain English". I was merely stating the charge he was written for. I never thought that someone would read it here that would want a description of the charge from New York's V&T laws. (that's vehicle & traffic in plain English) Too bad that you jumped right out and starting calling things Mickey Mouse charges until someone else did the research for you.

For calling the charge MM, I apologize.

Is all the damage cosmetic? The fan didn't go into the rad or anything did it?

My guess is that this will be a quick fix..From what I can see, your hood gaps look fine...You'll be pulling the HD's after 3 days in the bodyshop...Glad there were no injuries.

Fortunately, no structural damage like that. I thought it was a trans cooler, but the adjuster said it was a condenser in front of the radiator. That had one tiny, tiny dent in one of the fins but no leaks anywhere. He wrote it up anyway to save future issues. He also told me that if any hidden issues come up once they take it apart, the shop can call it in and they'll take care of it.

They're estimating 4 days in the shop. I've got rental coverage so it shouldn't be an issue. From a couple of calls I put in on the day of the accident, the issue might be finding someone to fix it before my trip south. The way our winter has been, body shops in the area are very busy. The 2 that I contacted are busy well into April as of now. I have an appointment with one indy shop on Monday morning and I'll be in touch with another indy shop that came well recommended by a car rebuilding friend.
Worse case scenario, it's driveable and I can get to Florida and back with it. It just ain't too pretty! :yuck:

I had the same thing happen. Wife got hit 2 days before we were to trade it in . We lost $2500 on our trade in after it was fixed. She was not ticketed, driver of other car was ticketed and found at fault. We tried for diminished value. 3 months later we were still calling and fighting with the other drivers insurance company, finally we gave up.

Not without paying out of pocket. The rental coverage is only $30 per day for 30 days. So even for the few days it's in the shop it looks like I'll be getting a Rent A Wreck econobox.

My insurance company's contact from the regional office tells me that they will try, but cannot guarantee to get at least my $500 deductible back from the other driver's insurance company because he was ticketed and was at fault.
I'm not counting on it, but at least there's a shot that I wasn't even aware of. I haven't had any interaction with an insurance company about a collision since 1987.
